Styling Frames become a part of your appearance, more so when you are required to wear them all the time, so it is very important that you feel great in them and they compliment you. There are a variety of shapes and styles. • A slim face shape is great with oval fames because the glasses come into the cheekbones, and it gives a snug and cosy fit, but don’t go too large. • For a rounder face shape square glasses are great for giving some structure. • A square shaped face is great with anything that has round edges to soften the look. If you are someone who wants a subtle and softer look, rimless glasses and thin metal frames are the best choice for creating a very minimalist look. The image below shows more examples of the shape styling. Fitting Fitting a frame is essential as they need to be comfortable. There are 3 rules to a perfectly fitted frame. • Bridge: There shouldn’t be any gaps on the bridge of the nose, frames should slot nicely on, however if you chose a metal frame with nose pads the fitting is a little different as you can adjust them to any size that is required. • Temple: These are the sides of the glasses, also known as legs or arms. They cannot be too tight to the point that they are leaving marks or splaying out, which then causes the frame to become faulty and be uncomfortable. We also need them to be the correct length so we can have a smooth curve around the ears. • Eye Position: Your eyes should be positioned directly in the centre of the lenses, not too high and not too low. Colouring Colouring is just as important as picking the right shape. If you are someone who has fair features, you don’t want to have anything that is too dark and harsh so consider more natural and warm colours (beige, purple, tortoiseshell etc.)We don’t want the glasses wearing you, however if you do want a ‘Bold’ look you can still achieve that. Someone who has dark features, earth colours are a lovely contrast (green, brown, and reds colours). I Frame Styling Christmas fundraising! We are delighted to be running our Christmas appeal again, looking to support families in our city who are finding life particularly hard. During December we will be donating £20 for every pair of glasses bought at Keyes Eyecare to Safe Families for Children, to support their work. If you would like to contribute but don’t need new glasses you can give directly by making a donation at www.safefamilies.uk/donate . Safe Families for Children Last Christmas, we raised a total of £1600, which was doubled by the Childhood trust. We’d love to give even more support this year. Jonathan Olson, Development Manager at Safe Families told us, “We’re honoured to partner with Keyes Eyecare, and to support families across the northeast. When you don’t have the support you need, and you’re facing life alone, it’s a scary place to be. Our work brings hope to families in crisis, and it reduces the number of children who go into care. With the cost-of-living crisis in full swing, the pressure on many families is increasing. But we can make a difference together. Every pair of glasses you buy this December will impact the lives of children and families in Newcastle this Christmas time. Sick of trying on numerous frames and can never find anything that fits or just doesn’t suit you? Well, I can tell you that there is a frame out there for you. From titanium to acetate, nose pads to none there are a variety of frames to choose from and sometimes this can be a little overwhelming. Here at Keyes, it is our mission to find the perfect frame for you!
